The second annual Mae Young Classic may have a new voice. Let’s just say: you better replace the barbecue sauce with pasta sauce!
PWInsider‘s Mike Johnson reports that NXT announcer Mauro Ranallo will call this year’s offering. This would be the second tournament Ranallo has called in WWE, previously voicing the Cruiserweight Classic in 2016 with Daniel Bryan. That pairing received rave reviews from fans and critics.

There’s no news yet as to who will join the ‘Voice of NXT‘, however, this development leads to speculation if Jim Ross, last year’s Mae Young Classic play-by-play caller will return or whether, as expected, the role will be occupied by a female talent with Beth Phoneix a hit during the Mixed-Match Challenge.
The second annual Mae Young Classic takes place over August 8 and August 9 and can be seen on the WWE Network throughout September and Ocotober. The finals will be held at WWE Evolution on October 28.
