Statistics Show More Interest In Stone Cold Than Cody Rhodes At WWE WrestleMania 38 WWE

New statistics have indicated that there was a higher level of interest in Stone Cold Steve Austin’s in ring return than Cody Rhodes’ appearance at WrestleMania 38.

Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Austin was the most searched name surrounding WrestleMania 38 on Google, ahead of Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.

Discussing the mixed success of trends surrounding WrestleMania 38, Meltzer said:

“Google trends, they did 2 million. It’s two shows doing 2 million combined, which is still well below what the Colby Covington and (Jorge) Masvidal fight did, but it’s better than about half the UFC shows.

“The biggest names as far as individual searches were Austin number one, Cody number two, and Roman Reigns number three, so that’s what people’s curiosity were the highest with.

“There has been more interest in other WrestleMania one nights than there were in the two nights, but not in many years, and it blew away the last couple of years, so WrestleMania was a big success.”

Austin returned to the ring for his first full match in 19 years on WrestleMania 38 Saturday, defeating Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match. Earlier in the night, Cody Rhodes had returned to WWE after an eventful six years away.

On WrestleMania 38 Sunday, Stone Cold hit Austin Theory, Vince McMahon and Pat McAfee with Stunners that have since went viral online.

Cody explained why he chose to return to WWE on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, which you can read about right here.
