Last night after Smackdown Live, a sixth championship match was added to the WWE SummerSlam card for this weekend’s big pay-per-view event.
Along with Seth Rollins challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship and Kofi Kingston defending his WWE Championship against Randy Orton, it was revealed that Oney Lorcan will try to wrestle the Cruiserweight Championship away from Drew Gulak.
After last night’s Smackdown, 205 Live held a Six-Pack Challenge, with Oney Lorcan seeing off some of the best cruiserweights on the purple brand.
Lorcan pinned Tony Nese in a frantic bout also featuring Ariya Daivari, Jack Gallagher, and former Cruiserweight Champions Akira Tozawa and Kalisto to book his ticket to SummerSlam for a title match with Gulak.
As is often the case, the Cruiserweight title match is expected to take place on the kickoff show. WWE recently confirmed that the pre-show will run for two hours, so expect Lorcan and Gulak to put in a show-stealing performance before SummerSlam starts.
