WWE Star Addresses Nick Aldis’ In-Ring Future Following SummerSlam 2026

WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce has commented on SmackDown GM Nick Aldis’ recent return to the ring at SummerSlam.

Nick Aldis made his WWE in-ring debut on August 1, losing to GUNTHER in singles action. This was Aldis’ first in-ring outing in almost three years, since joining the WWE in 2023.

Speaking with Super Cool Radio, Adam Pearce – who also works as an onscreen GM and backstage producer – noted that he’s glad that Nick Aldis got to scratch that itch, noting that Aldis felt fulfilled following the match.

Touching on Nick Aldis’ in-ring future, Pearce said:

“I have a long history with Nick. We have, in a lot of ways, somewhat mirrored our paths to WWE, if you will. I was NWA champion, he was NWA champion. He’s the SmackDown GM, I’m the Raw GM. In a lot of ways, I kind of helped him along in finding that footing into that position.

“I know the passion that he has for our industry. I know the path that he’s carved to get where he is today. Like I said, it’s very similar to mine. I know he’s a few years – a lot of years – younger than me, and has still some of that fire and drive to get in the ring.

“When you are not completely burned out, if you are not ready to be done wrestling, then wrestling will never be done with you. I’m glad he got to scratch that itch, we’ll see if that leads to more matches for Nick, or if that was a one and done.

“I know he was pretty fulfilled on that night, win, lose or draw. Yeah, he lost the match, but I think he won the respect of many a wrestling fan that night.”

When asked about the possibility of returning to the ring himself, Pearce reiterated his recent sentiment that he has no interest in wrestling again.

Adam Pearce has technically wrestled two matches for WWE, first winning the Universal Championship #1 contender’s gauntlet on the January 8, 2021 SmackDown episode following the Bloodline taking out Pearce’s opponent Shinsuke Nakamura.

Pearce didn’t compete in the eventual title match, with Kevin Owens ultimately replacing him.

His last in-ring outing saw him and Braun Strowman unsuccessfully challenge for Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin’s Raw Tag Team Championship on the March 1, 2021 Raw episode.
