Kota Ibushi’s first post-NJPW appearance has been officially announced following his contract expiry in January 2023.
With no clear sign that Ibushi would sign a new contract with NJPW following the vocalisation of issues with the company, Ibushi looks set to make a name for himself at GCW.
Game Changer Wrestling broke the news on their official Twitter account, stating:
“KOTA IBUSHI returns to the ring and makes his GCW Debut at @collective2023 in Los Angeles!
“March 30 – 4PM Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport
“March 31 – 8PM Joey Janela’s Spring Break
“Both events will stream LIVE on @FiteTV+!”
Ibushi had recently spoken about his plans for the future, saying he wanted to have his own company but had also received “really big offers from AEW and all over the world.”
An eventual move to AEW could potentially reunite him with his Golden Lovers partner, Kenny Omega, who is the current IWGP United States Champion.
Kota Ibushi has held multiple championships in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, including being a three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.
He hasn’t wrestled since suffering a separated shoulder during the finals of the 2021 G1 Climax tournament.
