The finals for the tournament to crown the inaugural NJPW WORLD TV Champion have now been determined.
Following the November 5 NJPW Battle Autumn event, we now know the two stars who will face off in the first ever NJPW WORLD TV Championship bout.
During the show, Zack Sabre Jr defeated EVIL to advance to the tournament finals. Ren Narita beat SANADA in his semifinal match to join Zack Sabre Jr in the finals.
Sabre Jr had previously defeated Alex Zayne and David Finlay in tournament matches, where Narita had scored victories over Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano prior to his semifinal bout.
The two stars will face off for the gold at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4, 2023. This event will be headlined by a IWGP World Heavyweight Championship bout, with Jay White defending his gold against G1 Climax tournament winner Kazuchika Okada.
Here’s the current lineup for Wrestle Kingdom 17:
- Jay White (c) vs. Kazuchika Okada – IWGP World Heavyweight Championship
- KAIRI or Mayu Iwatani vs TBD – IWGP Women’s Championship
- Taiji Ishimori (c) vs. Master Wato vs. Hiromu Takahashi vs. El Desperado – IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship
- Ren Narita vs. Zack Sabre Jr. – NJPW WORLD TV Championship
