NXT Star Dedicates TakeOver Match To His Mother

This past weekend saw a very physical match main event NXT TakeOver. Kyle O’Reilly and Finn Balor put on a stellar match which left both men bloodied by the end of the night.

WWE Public Relations tweeted Kyle O’Reilly had dedicated the match to his mother who has passed away. You can see the Tweet below:

Kyle’s mom passed away back when he and Bobby Fish won the NXT Tag Titles. Kyle and Fish have been tag partners for many years dating back to their days as Red Dragon in ROH and NJPW.

Prior to joining up with Bobby Fish, O’Reilly was once a tag team partner of Adam Cole. Their duo was called Future Shock and was a regular team in PWG and ROH.

While many know Kyle for his tag teams, O’Reilly has had success as a singles competitor, too. He held the ROH World Championship and had a terrific feud with Adam Cole.

There have been rumors of WWE/NXT breaking up the Undisputed Era and turning O’Reilly and Cole babyface. Based on the way, Kyle worked the match on Saturday and Adam Cole was deposited by Ridge Holland at the end of the show, it seems a babyface turn is definitely in the works.

Whether or not this is the end of an Era is yet to be seen. However, one thing is for sure, even though Kyle didn’t win, we’re sure his mom would have been proud of his performance.
