Two NXT stars made their WWE main roster debuts during last night’s January 30 Raw taping in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
As has become tradition, two NXT talents took part in matches taped for this week’s episode of Main Event before Raw kicked off.
This week, those two NXT names were Tony D’Angelo and Damon Kemp, so this will go down as both men’s main roster debuts.
It’s worth mentioning that these matches on Main Event are not indicative of main roster call-ups being planned for those involved, it’s just something that gives WWE management the chance to look at the NXT talents on a bigger stage and in front of a bigger crowd.
Both D’Angelo and Kemp came up short in their matches against Akira Tozawa and Shelton Benjamin respectively, but again, it’s not like that actually means anything.
For those unfamiliar, Kemp is actually Gable Steveson’s real-life brother, real name Bobby Steveson.
Kemp had been a member of the Diamond Mine faction until he turned heel, with his highest-profile match to date being an ambulance match against Julius Creed at Halloween Havoc last October.
D’Angelo is likely a more familiar name even to those who don’t watch NXT, as he’s been one of the most-pushed names since the NXT 2.0 era started in late 2021, having picked up wins against the likes of Santos Escobar, Dexter Lumis, Pete Dunne (Butch), and Tommaso Ciampa.
