Paul Heyman Reveals John Cena’s Selfless Acts He Wished To Keep Secret WWE

In 2022, John Cena broke the record for granting the most wishes in the history of the Make-A-Wish foundation.

However, according to Paul Heyman, if Cena had his way, the public would have never found out about any of his selfless acts for the organization, with Cena even having to be talked into it by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon at the time.

Heyman discussed Cena on a recent appearance on Rick Rubin’s Tetragrammaton podcast, revealing his admiration for the 16-time world champion, especially in relation to his work for Make-A-Wish.

Heyman said:

“I don’t have the words to convey the admiration I have for John Cena as a human being,”

“There had to come a point in time where Vince had to sit down with John and say, ‘You need to let me go public with these Make-A Wish visits.

“You have to. You know you’re hurting Make-A-Wish by not allowing me to do that because if people understood how much of your time you give to Make-a-Wish and to these kids, they’ll be inclined to contribute.

“They’ll be inclined to get involved. You will help them if you allow this’, because Cena never wanted to exploit it. He never wanted publicity for it. He never wanted recognition for it. He wanted to just do it. That’s a hero.”

Despite Cena now having transitioned into Hollywood, he does still remain part of WWE and even congratulated Roman Reigns on his historic 1000 day championship milestone.

Whilst on Rick Rubin’s podcast, Heyman would discuss Reigns and how his on-screen pairing with the Tribal Chief came to be, revealing the surprising name behind the entire thing, click here to find out more.
