The Bloodline saga has rightfully been given plaudits for its emotional storytelling, something that we have rarely seen at a similar level in WWE’s history.
However, as much as the performances of all involved have taken the industry forward, a key component of the story sees WWE pushing the envelope in a different way with future plot lines.
Speaking to Rick Rubin on Tetragrammaton, Paul Heyman believes that the next step will be conducting similarly connective stories only with an emphasis on inclusiveness and unconventional leading characters.
Heyman explains:
“The safe answer, to sound pseudo intelligent, is inclusive storylines. A transgender hero.
“A female that competes at the same level, with the same marketing behind her as any of the male competitors.
“(One) that’s not Ronda Rousey from the outside world coming in as a celebrity, but a homegrown Rhea Ripley.
“Or Bianca Belair. Or Charlotte Flair. Or Becky Lynch. Or Bayley. Or Nattie. Or any of these fantastic performers that we have on the roster.
“(They) get a platform as lucrative and that carries as much opportunity on a global basis as any of their male counterparts.
“That’s a very safe thing for me to say. I wouldn’t be wrong in saying that’s a place we should go, could go, and will go.”
While the Bloodline saga has of course been primarily focused on the Anoa’i family, perhaps the most engaging era of the near three year plot was when Sami Zayn came into the picture.
Zayn was ruthlessly kicked out of the Bloodline at the 2023 Royal Rumble, and along with his ousting was an opportunity lost for Heyman to tell Zayn something specific on air.
Heyman recently revealed one thing he wished he had told the former Honorary Uce on camera, to find out what exactly follow this link here.
