Current AEW TNT Champion Cody Rhodes made his return to AEW on last week’s (January 19) episode of AEW Dynamite, where he cut a promo announcing a unification Ladder match with interim TNT Champion Sammy Guevara at this week’s Beach Break special episode of Dynamite.
Wrestling historian Brian Last spoke about the segment on the Jim Cornette Experience podcast, where he revealed that he has heard from people in AEW who are ‘sick’ of Cody Rhodes.
He said:
“I heard from people in the company that said, ‘What did you think of that f**king promo?’. And I said, ‘Oh I thought it was hysterical, he’s the funniest guy in the world!’. And their reaction was quite opposite. It was, ‘God we’re sick of this guy. He’s out of his mind’.”

It’s worth noting that Last was the first person to mention potential backstage heat on Cody Rhodes, before it became a big story last year.
Cody is scheduled to face Sammy Guevara in a title unification match on tomorrow night’s Beach Break episode of Dynamite. For the full list of TNT Champions in AEW, click here.
