Popular Former WWE Name Potentially Set For Wrestling Return

Popular former WWE name and commentator Mauro Ranallo is now potentially set for a professional wrestling return.

Longtime combat sports and pro wrestling announcer Mauro Ranallo has been absent from the wrestling business for quite some time.

His last appearance for a wrestling promotion was his guest spot commentating the Kenny Omega vs. Rich Swann AEW World Title vs. IMPACT World Title Winner Takes All Match at IMPACT Rebellion 2021.

Despite Ranallo’s long absence from the industry, it now looks like this is about to change very soon.

Fightful Select (subscription required) reported that MLW has been in talks with Mauro Ranallo about possibly appearing for their brand.

The report notes that this is not a done deal, but there is some interest from MLW’s side to work with the announcer.

MLW owner Court Bauer and Mauro Ranallo have previously worked with one another for a Strikeforce project in the past.

Ranallo signed with WWE as a member of the SmackDown commentary team in 2016 and 2017 before moving to NXT.

Mauro’s run on NXT has gone on to get a great deal of praise from talent and fans, but he left WWE in 2020 and has since primarily continued to call combat sports.

It remains to be seen if and when Mauro Ranallo will make his return to pro wrestling with MLW at the time of this writing.
