Real Reason Bron Breakker Wasn’t Called Up In WWE Draft WWE

The real reason that two-time NXT Champion Bron Breakker wasn’t called up in the recent WWE Draft looks to have been revealed.

In total, 18 names from NXT were drafted to Raw, SmackDown or free agency, with those being:

Raw: Indi Hartwell, Apollo Crews, Zoey Stark, JD McDonagh, Katana Chance, Kayden Carter, Jinder Mahal, Sanga, Veer, and Odyssey Jones

SmackDown: Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn, Elton Prince, Kit Wilson, Cameron Grimes, and Grayson Waller

Free agents: Von Wagner and Xyon Quinn

As you can see, there’s no Bron Breakker on that list, and many people are wondering why he still hasn’t been called up considering he’s been the number one project in NXT since the start of NXT 2.0 in September 2021.

Well, just a few weeks before the draft, Breakker had turned heel after losing the NXT Championship, and it sounds like that major character shift has a big part to play in the decision to keep him in NXT for now.

WRKD Wrestling reported:

Regarding Bron Breakker going undrafted; we’ve heard there were tentative plans to draft Bron to the main roster, but officials are so impressed w/ his heel persona, he remained in NXT to better cultivate his character.

Breakker will challenge Hayes in an NXT Championship rematch at Battleground on May 28, which runs head-to-head with AEW Double Or Nothing.

WKRD Wrestling also notably mentioned that there are “tentative” plans to call Breakker up after SummerSlam, which takes place on August 5.

Here’s a rundown of what happened on the May 9 episode of NXT:

Tiffany Stratton def. Gigi Dolin in the NXT Women’s Championship tournament

Mark Coffey & Wolfgang def. The Dyad to retain the NXT Tag Team Championship after distractions on the outside including a brawl between Ava and Ivy Nile

Duke Hudson def. Javier Bernal

Eddy Thorpe def. Damon Kemp

Ilja Dragunov def. Dijak via DQ when Dijak attacked Dragunov with a steel chair and continued the attack post-match

Charlie Dempsey w/Drew Gulak def. Tyler Bate w/Wes Lee after Joe Gacy came out and punched Bate

Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen def. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

Lyra Valkyria def. Kiana James in the NXT Women’s Championship tournament

Bron Breakker def. Trick Williams, then continued to attack Williams post-match before Carmelo Hayes tried to make the save, but Breakker laid him out as well
