WWE is in the middle of renegotiating it’s media rights deals, recently announcing a $1.2 billion deal the NBCUniversal and the USA Network for SmackDown.
With USA Network picking up SmackDown, Raw and NXT, which currently air on the network, are believed to be on the market for a new home.
Well, one of the shows is reportedly on the verge of announcing a new deal, with PWInsider reporting that the CW Network and WWE have been in ‘deep discussions’ for weeks regarding the NXT show moving from it’s home on cable on USA, to broadcast television on the CW Network, when the show’s media rights end in September 2024.
The belief among some spoken with is that the deal is very close to being completed, with it expected to be around five years long, and said to ‘easily’ be the biggest increase for NXT media rights fees ever.
WWE has made an effort to increase the value of the NXT brand over the past few months, with names like Becky Lynch, Dominik Mysterio and Seth Rollins appearing on the show, as well as the recent ‘biggest NXT in history’ on October 10 head to head with AEW, which featured John Cena, Cody Rhodes, The Undertaker, Paul Heyman and more.
