Report: Tony Nese Has Signed With AEW

It’s being reported that former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Tony Nese has indeed signed with AEW after appearing on Dynamite.

Nese was shown in the crowd this past Saturday during the Bryan Danielson vs Dustin Rhodes, and Eddie Kingston vs Lance Archer matches, and commentary referred to him as ‘one of the hottest free agents in pro-wrestling’, so it wasn’t specifically stated that he had actually signed with the promotion.

He also worked this past Sunday’s Dark tapings, and Dave Meltzer has now followed up by reporting that he has in fact signed with AEW.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio today. Meltzer said:

“On the show on Saturday they showed him in the stands, so obviously he had signed, but they won’t announce it because probably they’re doing something.

“He did the Dark tapings yesterday in Orlando, and he wrestled, I think he wrestled more than one match.

“He’s signed, so that’s the deal.”

As mentioned, AEW hasn’t actually announced it with a “Tony Nese is All Elite” graphic yet, but we’ve seen in recent times that sometimes AEW lets things play out before doing that and waits for an opportune time.

It also wasn’t specifically stated that he’s signed full-time, so there’s a possibility that it’s just a tiered deal like a lot of the wrestlers who work Dark tapings are signed to, but the spotlight he was given on Dynamite could well imply otherwise.
