Report: Very Few People Knew About Surprise AEW Debut Prior To Double Or Nothing

One of the most, no pun intended, awesome moments of AEW’s Double or Nothing show was the surprise inclusion of Awesome Kong in the women’s triple threat match, making it a fatal-four-way. Kong was added to the bout by AEW’s Chief Branding Officer Brandi Rhodes, and while might not have walked out as the victor, fans were still excited to see the former TNA Knockouts Champion wrestle for the first time since 2016.

While Jon Moxley’s debut was highly speculated before the show, very few fans or writers expected the former WWE superstar to be part of the show. PWInsider is even reporting that this was not only a surprise to those watching, but even came as a shock to many involved in the event itself.

The report states that although Kong’s appearance had been planned and finalised for around four months now, still only very few people knew she was going to debut at the show and compete in the match.

At this time it is unknown if Awesome Kong’s appearance was a one-off deal, or if she will be hanging around and being a regular part of AEW’s women’s roster for the foreseeable future.
