Report: WWE Has No Plans To Bring Back Two Top Stars

Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE currently has no plans to bring back either John Cena or Goldberg for feuds with Roman Reigns on Friday Night SmackDown.

This comes after Inside The Ropes reported two weeks ago that Goldberg was asked to be part of the WWE ThunderDome to build to a match between either Braun Strowman or the aforementioned Roman Reigns in the future.

We were originally set to see Reigns vs. Goldberg at WrestleMania this year before Roman pulled out of the show due to concerns related to the COVID pandemic. Despite this, WWE is reportedly not planning on booking the match anytime soon:

We’re told there are no immediate plans a hotshot John Cena or Bill Goldberg match right now, which can always be used as a Reigns opponent. With Goldberg, there is even a storyline since it was to be at WrestleMania before Reigns went home, and was to be a major win in Reigns’ career that hasn’t happened yet.

Last night on SmackDown, we saw Jey Uso turn heel on Daniel Bryan and “fall in line” with the current Universal Champion Roman Reigns following their match last week at WWE Hell in a Cell.
