According to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, Vince McMahon could be about to give Chad Gable a ridiculous new name.
Per Johnson, WWE recently filed for a trademark on a new name, and after a segment on Smackdown Live, it seems as if Gable will most likely be the recipient.
This week on Smackdown, Shelton Benjamin called his former tag team partner Chad Gable “shorty”. This comes one week after Elias mocked Gable for his height on Smackdown Live.
On that note, Johnson claims that WWE could be hinting at a potential name-change for the former Raw, Smackdown and NXT Tag Team Champion.
“The future of Chad Gable might be obscured a bit. There was a promo that they released after SmackDown with Shelton Benjamin talking about King of the Ring and Chad Gable was standing next to him. He said, ‘hey Shelton what’s up?’ Shelton looked at him and said, ‘Shorty!’ and walked away.”
“We noted a couple weeks ago that WWE has copyrighted the name ‘Shorty G’ for a potential character. If Chad Gable is going to be ‘Shorty G,’ if that’s where they’re going with it — I don’t sense a bunch of upward mobility in his future with his character.”
So if the reports are to be believed, then WWE and Vince McMahon could be planning to give one of their most underrated stars with the highest potential in Chad Gable the name “Shorty G”…
I really hope this turns out to be false.
