An update has emerged on rumored backstage heat between CM Punk and Jon Moxley amid Punk’s AEW absence.
Punk notably took to his Instagram story on Thursday (March 23) to set the record straight regarding his feud with Jon Moxley heading into All Out 2022.
The former AEW World Champion noted that he wasn’t a fan of the idea to lose quickly to Moxley in their undisputed title match on the August 24 edition of Dynamite ahead of the pay-per-view, but claimed that Moxley refused to lose to him in that bout.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has now provided a huge update on the backstage situation between the two stars.
Per the report, Punk and Moxley appeared to have heat, based on the word of individuals who Moxley spoke with after Punk’s tirade at the All Out 2022 media scrum, and the subsequent backstage altercation.
It was noted that sources within AEW believe that the company would side with Moxley if they were made to choose between Moxley and Punk.
Fightful noted that while they reached out to both AEW and Punk for comments, neither responded in an official capacity.
Many further details on the CM Punk/AEW issues have emerged along with this report – check out all the updates at this link.
