WWE confirmed the news yesterday that several Superstars had been left stranded in Saudi Arabia following Crown Jewel. They only made it back today, missing Smackdown in New York last night.
As a result, WWE higher-ups brought in several NXT stars for an invasion of Friday Night Smackdown, with the show bringing in a respectable 2.543 million viewers.
WWE was in Saudi Arabia to put on their Crown Jewel pay-per-view. The show had been regarded as one of the better shows WWE has put on in the country.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful is reporting that rumours have been circulating that Vince McMahon had a disagreement with someone in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
“There were rumors among talent that Vince McMahon got in some kind of disagreement in Saudi Arabia, though I haven’t been able to fully confirm that. Also, I heard nothing of it being politically motivated. This aspect is a rumor at this point”.
It was suggested that the WWE Superstars might not have been left in Saudi Arabia due to a mechanical issue with the plane but actually because of a bigger issue.
It is not believed that this rumoured ‘disagreement’ that Vince McMahon had caused the delays.
