Saraya In-Ring Update After AEW Women’s Title Win AEW

Saraya has commented on her wrestling future after winning the AEW Women’s Championship at All In London at Wembley Stadium.

In April 2018, Saraya announced her wrestling retirement in WWE, with neck injuries forcing her to step away from the ring.

Five years later in August 2023, Saraya won the AEW Women’s Championship in front of her family, friends and the world at Wembley Stadium.

This title win took place less than a year after Saraya’s return match, with the former WWE star notably defeating Britt Baker at the November 2022 Full Gear pay-per-view.

Since then, Saraya has only wrestled a handful of singles matches, with most of her bouts being tag-team or multi-woman matches as a precautionary measure.

During the post-All In London media scrum, Saraya noted that she has wanted to wrestle more singles matches.

Indicating that she will indeed have more one-on-one bouts now she has the title, she said:

“I would like to do more singles matches, absolutely. I’m the champ now, of course, I kind of have to. But I would love to.

“It didn’t really make sense for me to do singles at one point in time because you had Ruby doing the Owen Hart Trophy, then you had Toni being the champ, so she was doing her singles matches.

“And I kind of liked being the barricade princess, I thought it suited me very well, being the screaming banshee on the side of the ring. I enjoyed that, but now he’s like, ‘No, now you have to work.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay. I guess I have to.'”

A current WWE star has reacted to Saraya’s title win, which you can read more about at this link.
