On what was one of the worst episodes of Raw in living memory, WWE still gave fans a moment to cheer, as The Shield reunited to take out Braun Strowman, stopping him from cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on a weakened Roman Reigns.
Following his poor attempt at cashing in at SummerSlam, Braun seemed set to cash in on Roman after the new Universal Champion beat Finn Balor in a fun title match.
WWE Raw Ring announcer JoJo even announced the cash-in, but importantly, the bell did not ring so the cash in was not official.
Just as the match was set to start…”Sierra, Hotel, Indigo, Echo, Lima, Delta”… The Shield are back. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, in full Shield gear, rushed to the ring to assist their former brother.
Despite efforts from Strowman to fight them off, he was subdued and triple powerbombed through the announce table.
Although some people are suggesting this was a heel turn, I’m almost certain it wasn’t. I think it was simply Seth and Dean showing that they have Roman’s back, and making life harder for Braun who seems desperate to cash in as soon as he can.
It gave the crowd a good pop to end the show, helping us forget the previous three hours of nearly 100% misery.
