Titus O’Neil Discusses Fred Rosser’s NJPW Strong Title Win WWE

WWE star Titus O’Neil has discussed his former tag team partner Fred Rosser winning the NJPW Strong NEVER Openweight Championship.

O’Neil teamed up with Rosser in WWE when he was known as Darren Young in the Prime Time Players tag team. The duo won the WWE Tag Team Championships, defeating The New Day in 2015.

Speaking with Nick Hausman of Wrestling Inc., the WWE star made it clear that he is “extremely proud” of everything Fred Rosser has accomplished outside the company with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

He said:

“I still talk to Darren and stay in constant communication with him. We actually were just in a group text message on Monday with a mutual friend.”

Speaking about Rosser’s evolution as a human being and becoming an advocate as an openly gay professional wrestler, O’Neil said:

“He went from being this guy that didn’t want to really talk in front of the camera to now, being an advocate and being an adversary to so many different causes. He’s a wonderful human being, a great competitor in the ring, an even greater person outside of it, so to see his success and for him to be a part of my family away from WWE is very special.”

Fred Rosser defeated Tom Lawlor to win the NJPW Strong NEVER Openweight Championship on the June 25 edition of NJPW Strong.

Rosser recently expressed interest in eventually making a return to WWE as a coach or possibly in NXT.
