Tony Khan’s Response When Asked About CM Punk’s AEW Status

Tony Khan’s Response When Asked About CM Punk’s AEW Status AEW

Here’s what AEW President Tony Khan said when he was asked about CM Punk’s status with the promotion.

CM Punk hasn’t appeared on AEW TV since calling out Colt Cabana, Hangman Page and the Elite during the post-All Out media scrum on September 4.

Punk was allegedly involved in a backstage altercation with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks following the scrum appearance.

While all stars involved in the altercation were reportedly suspended immediately after, Omega and the Young Bucks will make their in-ring returns at Full Gear. The Elite will challenge for Death Triangle’s AEW Trios Championship at the November 19 pay-per-view.

There were previously reports that CM Punk and AEW were in talks about a potential contract buyout.

Tony Khan wasn’t eager to share an update on negotiations. During the November 17 pre-Full Gear media call, Khan was asked about CM Punk’s status. Khan noted that he couldn’t comment on CM Punk.

Khan said:

“I can’t comment on that. I have nothing but positive things to say about the contributions CM Punk has made in AEW on screen and I certainly have a lot of positive things to say about the things he did in AEW to date, but I do understand why you’d ask and I appreciate you asking.”

It was previously noted that sources close to Punk believe that Punk isn’t done with wrestling, and expect him to return to the ring.

Whether Punk makes an in-ring return in or outside AEW is another conversation.
