Top AEW Act Pays Tribute To Jay Briscoe (Video) ROH

A top AEW act has paid tribute to Jay Briscoe.

On the January 18 edition of AEW Dynamite, various stars paid tribute to the late Jay Briscoe who passed away on January 17.

One of the stars who paid tribute during the broadcast were The Young Bucks who wore “Jay” armbands and hit The Briscoes’ finisher, The Doomsday Device, during their bout against Top Flight.

On the January 23 edition of Being The Elite, Matt and Nick Jackson opened the show alongside Brandon Cutler while traveling to Fresno, California for the Dynamite episode.

The Jackson brothers reflected on all the time they spent with Jay and their matches against The Briscoes.

Matt Jackson mentioned the bond that only wrestlers can understand when sharing the ring, putting their bodies in each other’s hands and coming out of it safely. Matt also detailed how they had pushed for AEW to hire The Briscoes since the beginning of the promotion.

When AEW launched, The Young Bucks said they needed The Lucha Brothers and The Briscoe Brothers for the tag team division.

They also noted that all talent were given the option of whether they wanted to come to the show that night following the news of Jay Briscoe’s passing.

Following their match against Top Flight, the brothers added that their minds were elsewhere the whole night to the point that they forgot to wear their AEW Trios Championships to the ring for the bout.

Later in the show, Matt and Nick were joined by Christopher Daniels in the car and the three noted they have been in contact with Mark Briscoe and did hear back from him.

As previously reported, Pro Wrestling Tees have released a t-shirt in honor of Jay Briscoe with all the proceeds going to the Pugh family. You can order your shirt at this link.

Jay Briscoe, real name Jamin Pugh, tragically passed away last Tuesday at the age of 38 when he was involved in a fatal car accident in Laurel, Delaware with another vehicle where both drivers were killed.

Pugh’s daughters, Gracie and Jayleigh, were involved in the accident and are recovering from their serious injuries sustained in the crash.
