William Regal is on his way out of All Elite Wrestling, per Tony Khan himself at the recent ROH Final Battle media call.
Regal’s AEW departure will see him return to WWE in the new year, with him reportedly unable to appear on screen for the company.
Regal’s return to the training side of NXT will surely be a morale boost to those at the Performance Center.
Current top NXT star Carmelo Hayes spoke to Digital Spy ahead of NXT Deadline, where he addressed the potential return of Regal to the company.
He said:
“So I have so much respect towards Regal, I learned so much from Regal before he left here. He was one of the guys that would take me aside and give me so much knowledge early on.
“So if he is coming back I’m super excited and it’s great for NXT, especially the new talents coming in that never got to work with Regal,” he continued.
“He’s just an Encyclopedia of knowledge and he truly cares. I don’t think anybody loves the business more than he does.”
Regal cut his final promo on AEW Dynamite on this week’s show, giving one final lesson to the Blackpool Combat Club.
Tony Khan revealed that he allowed Regal to return to the company to work alongside his son, Charlie Dempsey.
Carmelo Hayes is set to take part in the first ever Iron Survivor Challenge at tomorrow night’s NXT Deadline event.
