It’s hard to pick out the most emotional moments from this week’s Brodie Lee tribute episode of AEW Dynamite, because the whole show was a masterpiece which gave Brodie the incredible send off he so rightly deserved.
In terms of surprising moments however, you would arguably say that the appearance of Brodie’s former tag partner Erick Rowan (Erick Redbeard) took that spot. It was a fantastic moment and one that really got the tears flowing for a lot of fans in the audience and at home.
Many have questioned whether Rowan’s appearance meant that he had signed some kind of AEW contract, but writing in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer notes that as of right now, his appearance was a one off.
“Regarding Erick Rowan, his deal was just to make a special appearance on the Brodie Lee tribute show as a surprise.”
However, Meltzer did note that things can obviously change going forward, and there’s no doubt that making the appearance has endeared Rowan to AEW fans immediately.
Rowan and Lee tagged together for several years within WWE, as part of the Wyatt Family and the Bludgeon Brothers, so the relationship between the two men was clearly very close. We’ll have to see what lies in store for Rowan in the future.
