WWE has made an announcement on a previously advertised match for an upcoming event amidst uncertainty over its status.
Prior to WWE Payback om September 2 it was announced that then-reigning Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens would be defending their titles against Indus Sher (Sanga & Veer) in Hyderabad, India at Superstar Spectacle on September 8.
However, when Zayn and Owens lost their titles at Payback to Finn Balor & Damian Priest, the Indus Sher match was obviously in doubt with questions whether Indus Sher would now face the Judgment Day at the event, or whether the match would be scrapped altogether.
We have some clarity on the situation courtesy of an official announcement from WWE India on Twitter, confirming that the original match between Zayn & Owens and Indus Sher will still be going ahead, only now without any titles on the line.
That wasn’t the only match we got some confirmation on, as following WWE star Natalya’s comments on the Cavinder twins’ podcast last week, in which she stated she would be facing Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley in a title match at Superstar Spectacle, WWE has now confirmed this as fact too.
In a separate tweet ‘breaking’ the news, WWE announced that Ripley and Natalya will square off at Hyderabad’s GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium on September 8.
Ripley and Natalya are already more than familiar with each other, previously competing against each other at Night of Champions 2023 in May and another very well received bout on Raw in July.
In other news in relation to Superstar Spectacle a WWE star who hasn’t been seen on WWE TV in 14 months is set to make a return at the event – click here for full details.
The card also of course features John Cena, who will be teaming with Seth Rollins against Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.
Superstar Spectacle isn’t expected to be broadcast anywhere except in India itself.
