Men’s Main Event
The main event scene dominated this show and ran through just about half of the broadcast. As mentioned, the tag division segment had as much to do with this plot as it did tag team stories. Not only that, but the first 15 minutes of the show went to Daniel Bryan. He came out for a promo but was interrupted by Big Cass, whom he quickly disposed of. Poor Cass, but good for Daniel.
Then we had AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in the actual main event. With entrances and ad breaks, the duo took up the last 25 minutes or so. Nakamura defeated the champion by channeling his inner Eddie Guerrero. He brilliantly tricked the referee into believing Styles hit him with a low blow, before hitting a reverse exploder suplex and a Kinshasa for the win. The challenger will now get to choose the stipulation for his championship match with Styles. This was an excellent television main event match and was still good to great in general. Why they aren’t allowed to do this on pay-per-view, the world may never know.
