WWE Edits Out Hints Of Lesbian Storyline From Smackdown Highlights

Last night on Smackdown, Sonya Deville defeated Ember Moon thanks to some interference from tag team partner Mandy Rose. However, what got people talking was the post-match angle.

After the bout, Deville and Rose were caught gazing into each other’s eyes as Sonya stroked Mandy’s hair. While nothing was explicitly mentioned, it was clear that WWE was trying to portray some sort of sexual tension between the duo.

Sonya Deville is the first openly gay female performer in WWE history, and Stephanie McMahon was quoted in an interview several years ago saying the company wants to incorporate more LGBTQ+ characters into their storylines.

Many saw this as WWE planting seeds for a romantic love angle of some kind between Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.

However, WWE has seemingly edited out the scene from their YouTube highlight video of Deville’s victory over Ember Moon.

There is no word on why the scene was cut from the highlights, or even if WWE is planning on having Sonya and Mandy have an on-screen relationship together.
