WWE Matches Of The Week #16

NXT
The Street Profits vs. The Mighty

If the Street Profits aren’t future stars, something will have gone terribly wrong. They ooze charisma and are born entertainers. They know how to captivate an audience and put on a nice bit of wrestling while they do it. The Mighty are no slackers either with their clear skill between the ropes.

Putting them together was always going to result in a fun and solid match and, lo and behold, it did. It’s a shame that the NXT Tag Team Championships are reserved for the more serious teams like the War Raiders and the Undisputed Era. Either of these two would make good champs but I see them both heading to the main roster to get lost in the obscurity of Raw‘s tag team division or overshadowed in quality of SmackDown Live‘s.

That said, with the right debut and some solid storyline, they could hold some gold down the line. Either that or Montez Ford will simply go on to be one of the best mid-card singles stars in the company.

NXT
Tyler Bate vs. Roderick Strong

This is the sort of match you see on the card and get instant goosebumps. Tyler Bate is one of the best performers in the world especially considering he is only 21 years old. I hate him for that.

Roderick Strong is also truly incredible in the ring and has been a force of nature since joining the Undisputed Era and turning on my hero Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.

Their recent encounters in tag team action have been phenomenal, even earning the coveted five stars from Dave Meltzer on an episode of NXT. In singles competition, however, they still put on a barn-stormer, setting up their battle back in their tag teams for the titles at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV tomorrow night.

If this is the future of WWE then the future is bright and we can rest easy when these types of guys run the main roster instead of the likes of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
