A change is coming to WWE Raw that will see an upcoming episode pre-taped next month on the same night as SmackDown.

The announcement came courtesy of Rocket Arena in Cleveland, the home of the August 28 episode of WWE SmackDown.

In a post shared on the Rocket Arena Twitter account, it was revealed that fans would be able to see both shows, with the announcement reading:

“TWO SHOWS. ONE NIGHT.

“Don’t miss the WWE action LIVE in Cleveland on August 28.”

The announcement comes after WWE SmackDown was pre-taped at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, with that taking place on June 29, the same evening as that night’s live Raw.

With the episode of SmackDown being live on August 28, the pre-taped episode of Raw would be the go-home show for Sunday Night’s Main Event, which takes place on September 6.

Spoilers, Spoilers, Spoilers

A pre-taped episode of WWE Raw or SmackDown inevitably means that, on the evening of the recording, there’ll be spoilers aplenty.

Little is known about plans for Sunday Night’s Main Event, which takes place over Labor Day weekend, and it’s likely that the last episode of WWE Raw before the special will provide further insight into what fans can expect at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. For many of those fans, however, they’d probably like to see what happens at WWE Raw on Netflix instead of having the moment spoiled by a post on social media.

Unfortunately, the event taking place in front of a live crowd of rabid WWE fans means that, no matter how much one may wish to avoid spoilers, they’re bound to be out there moments after anything of note happens.

It’s the same with all forms of media, be it cinema, television, or books. Fans and enthusiasts want to share the experience, even if it means giving away what happens to a wider audience. Calling for a silencing of spoilers does little to quell the possibility of them emerging, despite any number of Hollywood properties asking for that very outcome ahead of a movie being released.

Arguably, it’s even worse when someone says “Did you see that x did y last night?” without intending to spoil the action. It’s a price that many of us pay as fans, hoping to watch whatever product we follow in our own time, only to see a big moment ruined while scrolling on a social media platform.
