Released Star To Wrestle First Non-WWE Match In Over Six Years WWE

Former WWE star Shelton Benjamin is set to wrestle his first non-WWE match in over six years, with his in-ring return officially announced.

Benjamin hasn’t wrestled since before he was released by WWE in September 2023.

The former tag-team champion will return to the ring at Prestige Wrestling’s ‘Alive Or Just Breathing’ show on May 16.

Benjamin is set to wrestle former TNA World Champion Josh Alexander at the event.

This event will take place at the Vermont Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. You can view Prestige Wrestling’s announcement below.

The match will be Benjamin’s first non-WWE bout since losing to Shane (Swerve) Strickland via countout at the July 21, 2017 IPW Evaluation Show.

Benjamin went on to sign with WWE in August 2017. He last wrestled at the September 11, 2023 WWE Main Event taping, teaming with Cedric Alexander in a losing effort against Erik & Ivar of the Viking Raiders.

Another WWE star who was also released in September 2023 has now returned to the independent scene, which you can read more about right here.
