WWE Reviewing Conduct Of Referee After Raw Controversy

WWE Reviewing Conduct Of Referee After Raw Controversy

WWE has announced it is reviewing the conduct of Nia Jax and referee John Cone after a controversial finish to a match on this past Monday’s Raw.

Jax was challening Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship, and it seemed she may have had the match won, but Cone refused to count the pin as Asuka’s foot was under the bottom rope.

The challenger got pretty annoyed at this and decided the best course of action was to push Cone to the floor. He went to disqualify her but noticed Asuka rolled her up, so intead he counted the pin, but did so a little faster than usual.

WWE is reviewing the conduct of Nia Jax and referee John Cone in the aftermath of the Raw Women’s Title Match this past Monday, WWE.com has learned.

At the match’s conclusion, Jax shoved Cone to the mat for refusing to count a pin while Asuka’s foot was under the rope. As Cone went to signal for a disqualification, Asuka rolled up Jax, and Cone appeared to issue a fast three-count, awarding the victory to Asuka.

Cone explained his actions in a WWE Network Exclusive interview following the match, which you can see below.

Stay with WWE’s digital and social platforms as this situation develops.

This is all obviously storyline stuff, but it’s nice to see that WWE is giving its referees a little bit of a presence. There has been talk that the company is consciously trying to use its referees better than it has done for a long time now, and this seems like another step in doing so.

Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com as we’ll provide any updates regarding the review of Jax and Cone as they become available.
