WWE
A SmackDown star has revealed that they hope to be at this year’s WWE Money in the Bank when it heads to their hometown.
Originally announced for August 29, WWE Money in the Bank would see a change of date to September of this year, before being confirmed for October 10.
With the WWE PLE taking place in New Orleans, Ricky Saints has revealed a hope to be involved in the ladder match to secure the briefcase for a later championship opportunity.
Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Saints set out his plans for the upcoming event, saying:
“Hey, listen, I don’t know what’s going to happen…
“I can only hope that I’m in the Money in the Bank match, and I can only hope that I win it.”

Having signed with WWE in February of last year, this year’s Money in the Bank would mark the first time that Saints has competed on the PLE.
Last year’s Money in the Bank took place on June 7, with Seth Rollins winning the men’s ladder match, which also featured Andrade, El Grande Americano (Chad Gable), LA Knight, Penta and Solo Sikoa.
Having faked an injury, Rollins would cash in his Money in the Bank opportunity at WWE SummerSlam, shortly after CM Punk defeated GUNTHER to become World Heavyweight Champion.

The PLE Homecoming
There’s something to be said for a WWE star having their moment at a Premium Live Event in their hometown.
Whether it was Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland, Rey Mysterio at Survivor Series in San Diego or CM Punk making his WWE return at Survivor Series WarGames in Chicago, the reception that the stars receive from a home crowd is often incredible.
True, in the case of the bigger WWE PLEs, the fans will be from much further afield than a particular city or state, but they are often swept up in the reaction being shown from those closer to home, particularly if the star goes on to win a match or title, or makes a significant impact in another capacity.
A Money in the Bank victory for Saints would see him destined to face a champion for a title at some point down the line, with a cash-in hopefully also taking place at a future PLE. Saints has a history of facing top stars, with his main roster WWE debut seeing him face Cody Rhodes in non-title action, a subject he would comment upon during the Battleground podcast appearance.
Competing at a match in his hometown on a WWE PLE would be a big moment for Saints, and there’s no doubt many more of those to come for the former NXT Champion.
