Former WWE Tag Team Champion Scotty 2 Hotty was backstage at the July 26 episode of AEW Dynamite for a tryout.
Scotty, real name Scott Garland, was a trainer at the WWE Performance Center from September 2016 until his release in November 2021.
As reported at the time, Garland had requested his release as he felt he was “part of something solely for the paycheck.”
Since his release, he has performed on the international independent wrestling scene.
He was, however, backstage at the July 26 episode of AEW Dynamite in what PWInsider has described as “a Coach/Producer” role.
PWInsider would go on to say that Garland “was brought in by the promotion for what we were told is a tryout in the position.”
It was also noted that “he is expected to be around at least for the next several weeks.”
During his time in WWE, Garland held the WWF and WWE Tag Team Championships (with Grand Master Sexay and Rikishi respectively) and was also a WWF Light Heavyweight Champion.
