A former WWE star has recalled scrapped plans to compete in a hair vs. hair match, and what it would have taken to go through with it.
At SummerSlam 2020 the rivalry between former tag team partners Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville looked set to conclude in one of the most dramatic stipulations possible – a hair vs. hair match.
However, despite being announced and built up on WWE TV the idea was ultimately scrapped just days prior to SummerSlam – this was due to Deville being planned to lose and being advised against having her head shaved due to the legal situation she was involved in at the time.
Now, speaking in a new Q&A session for Monopoly Events, Rose discussed the match and what it would have taken for her to go through with getting her head shaved.
Rose said:
“Working with Sonya was great because we were best friends and knew each other so well. There was no bad will, we always took care of each other.
“We were with each other all the time, so we talked about wrestling. Working with her during that whole time, it was weird again, because of COVID, unfortunately.
“If we did do the hair vs. hair match, would I have shaved my head? It depends, they would have had to pay me to shave my head a little more.”
While the match would still go ahead, the stipulation was changed to a ‘loser leaves WWE’ match, with Rose picking up the victory.
Rose, who has been away from wrestling since her December 2020 release from WWE, recently addressed a potential return to the ring – click here for full details.
