An injured WWE star has issued a challenge to Intercontinental Champion Gunther following his defence on Raw.
Record setting Intercontinental Champion Gunther made the latest defence of his championship on last night’s episode of WWE Raw, when he defeated Kofi Kingston.
After the show, Gunther cut an incredible promo following his defence, saying that he is ‘pretty close’ to perfect, and will continue to make history as the Intercontinental Champion.
This prompted a response from Gunther’s former rival Sheamus, who continued to send a challenge to the Ring General.
He said:
keep that warm for me & i want it spit shined… never forget… YOU TAPPED.
Sheamus was referencing the pair’s last singles match for the belt in October 2022, where Gunther feigned tapping out to escape Sheamus’ Cloverleaf.
Sheamus and Drew McIntyre both challenged Gunther for the title at WrestleMania 39 last year before Gunther was drafted to Raw in the 2023 WWE Draft.
Sheamus has been out of action with what is believed to be a significant shoulder injury.
His last match took place in August 2023, when he faced Edge in Edge’s last match in WWE.
