Doubts Over WWE Star’s Focus Ahead Of Major Match WWE

On tonight’s NXT, Trick Williams’ future in WWE had an added layer of drama as he is set for not one but two matches at Vengeance Day.

Earlier in the show, Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams won their semi-final match against LWO’s Joaquin Wilde and Cruz del Toro, advancing to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament final where they’ll face Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker.

In a backstage segment, Carmelo Hayes urged Trick to not listen to any mind games that Ilja Dragunov attempts to play in an effort to break them apart ahead of their big Dusty Cup final match at Vengeance Day.

The end tonight’s go-home edition of WWE NXT, Trick Williams came face-to-face with NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov – who he’ll also be facing at Vengeance Day.

While the pair had an in-ring verbal exchange, Dragunov told Williams that he thought it was actually Dragunov that had brought out the best in Trick, not Trick’s own pal Melo.

Williams for his part accused Ilja Dragunov of purposely stalling their NXT Championship match as to set him up for two matches in one night at Vengeance Day.

However before the show went off the air, Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker ran out to attack Williams.

Knocking Ilja Dragunov out of the way, the pair focused on Trick Williams as the beatdown summoned Carmelo Hayes who ran out to chase their future opponents away.

While it wasn’t audible to the audience, just before Breakker and Corbin attacked, Ilja Dragunov did pull Trick Williams in for an embrace and told him something that appeared surprising.

The show ended with the big question mark – is Trick focusing too much on Dragunov to the point that he’s going to let Carmelo Hayes down in their tag match earlier in the night, something that Hayes is extremely concerned about.
