Top WWE Star ‘Frustrated’ By Company ‘Not Capitalizing’ On Popular Group

Sheamus has undergone something of a career resurgence in recent years, with his chase for the Intercontinental Championship being a moment a lot of fans had interest in.

Sheamus doesn’t come alone nowadays however, as not far behind him are his Brawling Brutes stablemates Ridge Holland and Butch.

Despite the groups popularity however, Ridge and Butch have often found themselves being background characters to Sheamus, with them more often than not on the losing end of whatever bout they’re a part of.

Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Sheamus expressed his frustration with the group, believing that the company haven’t capitalized on what they can do.

He said:

“I just don’t think they’ve really capitalized on the group, I don’t think they’ve really let us show what we can do. This stop/start stuff is really hard when you’re trying to highlight young talent. It’s frustrating, you know? So I dunno, maybe we’ll get an opportunity to show what we can really do as a group because a lot of those other groups who are out there now have definitely got an opportunity that we haven’t had to do some storyline stuff, some character stuff. That’s kinda been a shame, mate, to be honest, considering the talent that’s in there.”

Heading into WrestleMania this year, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre were teaming up in tag team action ahead of the eventually Triple Threat match with Gunther at WrestleMania.

The story saw Ridge and Butch take a backseat to Sheamus and Drew’s story, and Sheamus himselfspoke about how he wished they had a bigger role in the story.

He added:

“I’ve always tried to get the boys involved, there’s just a lot of creative stuff that’s out of my hands. They kinda got sidelined on that, which shouldn’t have been the case. Especially the history we have with Drew, there was a great opportunity to tell a story there of Drew coming back into the fold and the boys being apprehensive of that happening.

“They’re young, they’re hungry, they’ve wanted to do this their whole lives! Ridge has been a fan of wrestling his whole life, Butch has been doing this from a young age. Sitting on the sidelines, especially when you’re passionate and you know you’re talented and you know you can go, there’s nothing more frustrating. It could’ve been better.”

Things seem to be on the up for Butch, who is set to be a part of the Money In The Bank Ladder match in London next weekend.

Sheamus and Ridge Holland were heavily spotlighted in the Number One Contender’s Tag Team Gauntlet on last week’s SmackDown, eliminating four teams.

The Gauntlet ended up being won by Pretty Deadly, who will challenge Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship on SmackDown in London next Friday.
