WWE Star Further Teases Heel Turn

The April 22 episode of WWE Raw saw The Awesome Truth defend their World Tag Team Championships against #DIY.

As can be seen in the footage below this news story, the team of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were unsuccessful in their quest to win the titles.

Ciampa’s annoyance emerged during the match culminating in him refusing to shake hands with the tag team champions.

It wasn’t any better with Ciampa backstage either, walking out on a backstage interview that can also be seen below.

With it being pointed out that they were “so close” and where they would go next, Ciampa said:

“What’s the next step? This was the next step.

“Becoming the World Tag Team Champions was the next step.

“There’s no next step.”

With questions over how Ciampa handled the loss, the #DIY member took exception, storming off after saying:

“It’s a waste of time.”

Gargano apologised for Ciampa’s attitude, saying:

“He’s emotional. It’s been a tough time.”

The loss comes off the back of the victory on the April 15 episode of WWE Raw that saw #DIY become World Tag Team Championship Number One Contenders, beating The Creed Brothers and The New Day.

At WrestleMania 40, the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships were split apart into the WWE World Tag Team Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship, defended on Raw and SmackDown respectively.

Prior to the WrestleMania 40 match, Ciampa reflected on his first WrestleMania match in the nine years he has been with WWE.

The current WWE Tag Team Champions are A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller).
