It was randomly announced hours before Raw that Angel Garza and Andrade will team up together at WrestleMania to take on The Street Profits for the Raw Tag Team Championships.
Prior to last night’s show when the match was announced, Garza and Andrade had lost in their only tag team match together. I’m not really sure what they did to earn the title shot, but the match could be pretty good if given time.
To build the duo up as an established team before WrestleMania, WWE booked Andrade and Angel Garza in tag team action against fellow Raw stars Ricochet and Cedric Alexander on last night’s show.
On paper the match sounds pretty exciting, and it actually was very good considering there was no crowd to get invested in the action. However, the match ended with a botch and what looks like Cedric Alexander getting knocked out.
During the match, Andrade hit Alexander with his awesome Judas Effect that looks significantly more impressive that Chris Jericho’s finisher. While the move is impressive for Andrade, it has never won him a match.
However, the United States Champion pinned Cedric immediately after the move, and it looks like this might be because the Alexander was knocked out. The referee also hesitated before counting to three.
In the slow-motion clip posted on Twitter by @ChandranTheMan, you can see that the spinning back elbow really seemed to catch Alexander badly.
Wow. That back elbow by Andrade is crazy. #RAW pic.twitter.com/LIVzrCGsQt
