WWE Royal Rumble takes place on Saturday January 28 and attention has turned to who will point at the sign and head to WrestleMania 39.
We already know that Cody Rhodes will be making his return from injury as part of the Men’s Royal Rumble, but WWE have been coy about other competitors.
With some Royal Rumble entrants being surprises, fans are no doubt hoping for a big name, and they don’t get much bigger than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed the possibility of The Rock at the Rumble, saying:
“I think people have an idea (of the Royal Rumble winner) as far as, it’s either gonna be Cody, it’s gonna be Sami, or they’re gonna bring in an outsider.
“Everything that’s happened in the last week or so, I don’t think it’s Dwayne. I was told it wasn’t and all indications are it’s not.”

It was recently reported that The Rock had made it clear to WWE that he wouldn’t be in the kind of ring shape he feels he needs to be in to main event WrestleMania with Roman Reigns.
Removing The Rock from a WWE Championship match at WrestleMania would make the need for him to win the Rumble much less necessary.
WWE recently released new merchandise for The Rock on WWE Shop.
