Report: WWE Personnel Believe Triple H ‘Didn’t Realize’ Full Benefit Of Signing Will Ospreay AEW, WWE

WWE personnel reportedly believe Triple H “didn’t realize” the full benefit of signing top AEW star Will Ospreay.

With a match of the year contender against Konosuke Takeshita at Revolution 2024, and another potential candidate coming up in just a month’s time against Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty (April 21), most fans would agree Will Ospreay has made a hot start to his AEW career.

While his in-ring work is typically well-received, the Englishman has also had the chance to showcase his personality on AEW TV, with this week’s AEW Dynamite: Big Business being an example of this.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, people in WWE have said Ospreay’s promo ability was not a part of the package that Triple H considered, with HHH only aware of his wrestling ability prior to entering negotiations with the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

Meltzer explained, when discussing Ospreay’s promo at Big Business:

“I just think that if Triple H is watching this, he’s going like, ‘Holy f**k’.

“They know he’s a good wrestler, but I don’t think they know that he’s the charismatic person and talker and can get over.

“I know people in WWE when this was going down – it was becoming very clear he was going to AEW and not WWE – and they (WWE) offered a lot less money.

“I know people there were going like, ‘He (Triple H) didn’t realize’. They knew, but he just didn’t realize. He just thought, ‘Ah, he’s one of these great workers’.”

Ospreay recently had the chance to open up about his negotiations with WWE prior to signing with AEW via an appearance on Talk is Jericho.

When comparing the offers received by the two companies, Ospreay described it as “night and day” in favor of AEW in “every” sense.

As mentioned, Ospreay will face Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty on April 21.
