A WWE Hall of Famer has revealed that they received “pushback” from male wrestlers when they discovered women would main event Raw.
Trish Stratus recently returned to the WWE, siding with Lita and Becky Lynch on February 27 and looks set for a “lengthy program” in the company.
Looking back to 2004 and the feud between Stratus and Lita, WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW commentator Jim Ross revealed on Twitter:
“You wouldn’t believe the pushback from male wrestlers that I received when they found out that @trishstratuscom and @AmyDumas were going to close Raw.
“They deserved the opportunity and I’m happy that we did it.”
Ross wouldn’t reveal the names of the male wrestlers who responded in a negative way.
Trish Stratus faced Lita on the main event of the December 6 2004 episode of WWE Raw, with the Women’s Championship on the line.
WWE released the full match on their YouTube channel which can be seen under this news story.
