WWE Star Pitches To Be WrestleMania 40 Opening Match WWE

WWE star Becky Lynch has teased her title match against Rhea Ripley opening the show at WrestleMania 40, noting that she’d love to go on first.

With Becky Lynch set to challenge for Rhea Ripley’s Women’s World Championship, there was some speculation that this title bout could headline the first night of WrestleMania.

As The Rock and Roman Reigns are now set to face off against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins before Reigns and Rollins’ respective title defences, all signs are now pointing towards that tag-team match main eventing WrestleMania 40 Saturday.

Speaking with Clutch Points, Lynch noted that she’d love to wrestle in the first match of the night at WrestleMania 40.

Noting that she hasn’t opened at a WrestleMania event before, she said:

“I’m not worried about card order. I would love to open the show. I would love that. I’ve never opened WrestleMania before.

“To open this one, as big as it is in Philadelphia, I’m just putting that out there. It would be pretty cool because if it’s not the main event, I always want to be the opening spot — it’s always a great place on the card because people are so excited.”

Confirming that she’d prefer to open the show on WrestleMania 40 Saturday rather than the Sunday show, she said:

“Ooh, night one. I would love to open the whole of WrestleMania, you know what I’m saying? Just (to) be that first match for that whole event.

“(Opening the show will) give me enough time that I can relax and really enjoy Colby (Seth Rollins) main eventing WrestleMania and getting to watch him do that because that will be so special.”
