Zelina Vega Opens Up About Santos Escobar Asking Rey Mysterio For WWE US Title Match WWE

Zelina Vega has opened up about Santos Escobar asking Rey Mysterio for a WWE US Title match.

On the September 15 edition of WWE SmackDown, Santos Escobar challenged his fellow LWO stablemate Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship. Rey accepted and the two men embraced.

Escobar was originally scheduled to challenge then-US Champion Austin Theory in August, but Theory attacked Santos before Rey Mysterio replaced him to win the gold.

On this week’s WWE’s The Bump, Vega discussed the exchange between Escobar and Mysterio on last week’s SmackDown. She said:

“It took a lot [to ask Mysterio for a title shot]. I had to muster the strength and courage, and find a way to not say it in a negative way because I do respect and love the man [Mysterio],”

“That was the moment that I had to do it. He was celebrating and I enjoyed that, and we had the whole family there, so I said to myself, ‘It’s now or never.'”

On her initial reaction to Escobar’s title match request, Zelina said:

“Shook,”

“Not only did Rey get Santos, but he also got all of us. The thing is, he [Mysterio] brought the title to the LWO, and he brought it to our family.”

“Santos is going to get his time, he’s going to get his chance. I think the best thing about us is that no matter what, we all support each other through and through.”

The LWO will be in action on tonight’s September 22 edition of WWE SmackDown when they face Street Profits.
