New Day def. SAnitY
And just in case you thought Smackdown might start taking SanitY seriously by giving them a push, they lost clean to New Day to get knocked out the Smackdown Tag Title Tournament. 50/50 booking at its finest. The Bar made their return to Smackdown Live and cut a promo on New Day and Usos – with SAnitY seemingly not feeling so good Mr. Stark and disappearing from sight.
The Countdown To Miz And Mrs
And the main event of the show – and I’m not kidding here – was an advert for Miz And Mrs which was debuting on the USA Network after Smackdown Live. WWE can barely promote 205 Live after Smackdown but they can dedicate an entire segment to Miz And Mrs? Of course Maryse plugged how great Evolution is going to be as well just in case you’d somehow forgotten that was a thing. The big talking point however was the return of the countdown clock – making its return to WWE after its controversial Extreme Rules appearance. Miz tried to show a preview of the show, but it had been re-edited by Daniel Bryan to show all of Miz’s failures. Bryan came out, but Miz threw a fake baby at him and laid him out with the Skull Crushing Finale to end the show.
While this show announced matches for Summerslam, it didn’t do a whole lot else. Aside from the Almas and Rusev match and Joe’s attack on AJ, there wasn’t a great deal about this show to like. This week’s Smackdown Live is Ellsworthy.
