wXw Managing Director steps down, wXw Shotgun cancelled

One day after appearing on Progress Wrestling’s Hello Wembley show, wXw managing director Christian Jakobi has announced his intention to leave the company for an undisclosed amount of time, citing burnout.

After working for wXw for over a decade and playing a pivotal role in building the company to what it is today, he has decided not to continue – at least for the moment. In advance to the press-release wXw gave out today regarding the news, Jakobi planned his hiatus in advance with the other members of the executive board Tassilo Jung and Felix Kohlenberg.

In a press release wXw stated that Jakobi’s departure was going to be tough test for the company but also an opportunity to look for flaws in the company and rectify them.

So what will it mean for fans?

A lot of the changes will not be noticeable to the audience, but wXw has still apologised for troubles that might occur during the transition time. The following changes will are expected in the upcoming week:

• Ticketing: wXw moves it’s ticket-shop from their own wxwshop to Eventbrite starting October 8th. Eventim will remain as a secondary partner for tickets
• Shows: The weekly FAQ segment ‘askcmj’ on YouTube with Christian Michael Jakobi is cancelled until Jakobi returns, also the weekly wrestling show wXw Shotgun will be cancelled. The last tapings are happening on October 6^th during the World Tag Team League weekend. Shotgun will shortly be replaced by new WXWNOW Feature Events.. How this will effect the Shotgun Championship, which is wXw’s secondary title, is currently unknown. Shotgun was a labour of love for Jakobi. wXw stated that the cancellation happened due to negative feedback by fans.

Further changes expected include:

• WXWNow: WXWNOW, the wXw streaming service, is now going to be its own company, the wXw NOW GmbH. It was founded on September 21^st 2018. The wXw NOW GmbH now owns the entire wXw video library. After the transition the wXw NOW GmbH will enter into negotiations with various promotions from around the world to come to WXWNOW by the end of 2018. Starting today, promotions like CZW and WrestlingKult will join the WXWNOW offering.
• Touring: wXw will relaunch their entire tour concept starting in 2019. After fan feedback the 30 to 35 event schedule will be changed entirely. wXw worked out a new concept which will result into 65 to 80 events held by wXw and the wXw Academy per year which will focus more on storylines and adapt beloved elements of wXw Shotgun – as demanded by fans

So in the end wXw is going to see a lot of changes but will try everything in its power to cover the loss of Jakobi and also maintain the great relationship they have with their talent, employees and fans.

wXw second biggest event of the year, the World Tag Team League, takes place this week from October 4 to October 7 in Oberhausen, Germany.
