All this um-ing and ah-ing about Crown Jewel has been enough to drive fans completely insane, and so it can’t exactly be a pleasant experience for those working within WWE either.
Rumours have flown around as to the supposed fate of the show, with Dave Meltzer claiming yesterday that it is in real danger of being cancelled.
As previously mentioned (several times), this issues regarding the show have all arisen from the murder of Jamal Kashoggi, a New York Times journalist of Saudi Arabian descent.
Fans and politicians alike have called for WWE to cancel their Crown Jewel show, which is set to air from the Saudi capital of Riyadh on November 2.
WWE has removed ticket sales for the event from their website and references to the show being in Saudi Arabia have been limited, but it seems that for now at least, the show is still going to be in Riyadh.
PWInsider are now reporting that those employed by WWE for the show are still under the illusion that they will be heading to Saudi Arabia in the next couple of days once the latest set of live show tapings are done.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson wrote: “The talk at this week’s TV among staffers was about traveling to Saudi Arabia, so everyone is under the impression they are going as nothing else has been communicated to them by management.”
He adds that if WWE is going to cancel, they’re going to have to do it very soon, given the show is just over a week away.
